Fuad Chahin after DC complaint for unfair administration by compromising party assets: “the accusation is laughable”

As a result of the complaint filed by the Christian Democracy – chaired by Felipe Delpin – against the former president of the community, Fuad Chahin, for the crime of unfair administration, the ex-conventional defended himself and called the accusation “ridiculously false facts”.

It should be noted that the complaint indicates that Chahin – who presided over the phalanx between May 28, 2018 and May 18, 2021 – entered into a series of contracts on real estate belonging to the party “that seriously compromise their assets.”

Through a public statement, Chahin expressed his defenses. “The political interest in offending me unjustifiably is completely evident, so much so that the text of the complaint was delivered to the press even before it was admitted for processing by the respective court,” he pointed out.

Along the same lines, the ex-conventional accused that “said complaint is added to a campaign that began months ago aimed at affecting my honor and image for obvious reasons given the differences of political opinion that I have maintained with the current leadership of the party.”

“Despite having insistently requested to be able to present to the National Council the execution during my administration of the Asset Management Plan approved by both the Board of Directors and the PDC National Council, I was never invited to said instance and, on the contrary. a web of intrigues and accusations lacking any foundation was woven that has resulted in this simply embarrassing act,” he said.

Likewise, he comments that “it is necessary to remember that -at the time- at the request of Carmen Frei, a Special Commission of the PDC was formed with the mandate to investigate the process of sale of real estate of the party approved by the National Council. The conclusion that was communicated on that occasion to the Board of Directors and myself is that although there were irregularities in some procedures ‘there was no patrimonial damage to the PDC nor were personal responsibilities determined'”.

“The only property that was sold, of those allegedly questioned in the lawsuit, was that of the former headquarters of the commune of La Florida, whose initial appraisal was $140,000,000. -approximately and that, in the framework of a negotiation , the Board of Directors approved to sell for $355,000,000.- being the buyer who would assume at his own expense and risk the elaboration of a real estate project in the sector”, he pointed out.

Likewise, it maintains that “in relation to this property, the complaint deliberately omits that thanks to the initiation of legal actions by the PDC and a renegotiation of the conditions, the originally agreed price was significantly increased, reaching a price of over $700,000. 000.- but assuming the seller the costs involved in the preparation and management of the real estate project, including studies and corresponding permits (not an intermediation commission).

“This allowed the PDC to receive $530,000,000 in cash within the framework of that operation. The accusation of affecting the Party’s assets is ridiculous if it received income of $530,000,000 in cash from a venue initially valued at just over $140,000,000,” he added.

Regarding the other properties for which he is accused, he commented that “if indeed there were irregularities in the internal procedures, those that were not timely warned by those in charge, in no case constitute serious observations, much less affected the interest of the PDC.”

“Given these absurd facts, which constitute a true abuse of criminal action, I can only deduce that we are facing a communication operation to try to silence me in my political position in the face of the plebiscite on September 4, which obviously they will not achieve” , he stated.

“Very calmly, but firmly, I will defend my honor and the often difficult decisions that were adopted by party bodies, always looking out for the interest of the party. In this sense, I will take all necessary legal actions in the coming days,” he concluded. .
