On Monday, August 2 of last year, the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) began work on a tunnel and a roundabout at the Tres Bocas intersection.
Despite the advances that they claim to have made from the road portfolio, the frontists affirm that the reality is different. From the MOPC they announced at the end of the year that the works had already advanced by 64% in five months. However, the rest will only be finished by August of this year.
This situation generates a series of inconveniences for the merchants (fronts) located on Avelino Martínez Avenue. In the first place, they suffer from the reduction in sales due to the difficulties that motorists have to stop in the area.
Secondly, in the face of each inclement weather, their homes or workplaces suffer the entry of water and soil due to the wells that were made in the works. That is why they ask for the payment of compensation, an issue that the MOPC will analyze today during siesta hours.
BENITEZ
Ángel Benítez, frontist and president of the March 9 settlement, located on Avelino Martínez Avenue, said that they are preparing a demonstration for today at four in the afternoon, in homage to the anniversary of the settlement and the frontist demonstration.
“Water and mud get into our homes. We want people to listen. We made many complaints, but they do not listen to us. They don’t give us solutions. Many lies have already been told to us,” she expressed.
Lilo Domínguez, president of the Municipal Board of San Lorenzo, will participate in the demonstration.
SUBSIDIES
Today there will also be a meeting of Public Works for the payment of compensation for the cessation of work.
“Today at 2:30 p.m. there is a meeting at Public Works where they will receive four people to complete the necessary documents such as VAT. We are going to summon them because we are tired of their lies,” he reported.
Since the works began, they have this inconvenience. Around 71 merchants were affected by this situation. Several of them left their jobs due to the inability to continue paying rent.
Only in the case of Amarilla, revenues decreased by 90%. He is dedicated to cell phone repair.
MORE OF THE WORKS
The project contemplates an overpass of the South Access Route through the construction of a tunnel 135 meters long, keeping the rest of the movements channeled through a roundabout without traffic light regulation.
Added to this is the improvement of Colonia Elisa Street, the main direct intersection connection with the cities of Fernando de la Mora, Villa Elisa, Ñemby and San Antonio, respectively.
