Front system: Minister Jeanette Vega informs extension in shelter quotas

The Minister of Social Development, Jeanette Vegaannounced the extension in capacity and opening of shelters, regarding the frontal system that affects communes from the Valparaíso region to the Aysén region, including the Metropolitan one.

“We have arranged preventive emergency actions, which will allow us to double the capacity of the shelters from this Tuesday, April 26, adding 196 daily quotas to the already existing capacity in the regions from Valparaíso to Aysén,” the minister said in a video.

“In the Metropolitan region, six new shelters have been set up, increasing capacity by 120 additional existing beds,” continued the head of Social Development.

In addition, he explained that “in the framework of the Protect Street Plan, the coverage of six already installed shelters will be increased, in the regions of Valparaíso, Maule, Ñuble Biobío and Metropolitana, increasing 76 additional beds.”

Finally, he announced the convening of the Street Table at the national and regional level.
