Front Guasu and Patria Querida dispute a place in the TSJE

The first quota corresponds to the PLRA, so the debate is centered on the party with the third space remaining with the second vacancy. The two main stakeholders are the Guasu Front and the Patria Querida party.

GUASU FRONT
Hugo Richer, national senator for the Guasu Front, said that, of the 34 candidates, two meet the expectations of his party, they are Emilio Camacho, former senator, and the lawyer Jorge Enrique Bogarín González.

“There are people who have the profile for the third space, Emilio Camacho and Jorge Bogarín are two of them. But first it will be necessary to see which is the short list that the Council of the Magistrature sends. The political decision only takes place during the election of the three candidates that are finally left”, he stated.

Immediately afterwards, he questioned legislators Salyn Buzarquis and Hermelinda Alvarenga, both from the PLRA, for running for TSJE ministers, despite the fact that they were elected to be congressmen.

“These facts generate a debate and this debate is very important because it will lead to new positions. The people, part of society, do not see very well the candidacies of people who are in the legislature for these positions”.

He pointed out that what Juan Bartolomé “Ancho” Ramírez did when he resigned from his position as senator to later run for minister of the TSJE seems ethical to him. Regardless of the feasibility or not of his application.

“He resigned his position as senator, so the debate is centered around legislators who were elected to a position and on the other hand are still in office. Constitutionally, the Chamber of Senators is the one that chooses in the case of the shortlists that come from the Council of the Magistrature, and if a colleague, while in office, aspires to a place, it will generate suspicions, ”he explained.

DEAR COUNTRY

Georgia Arrúa, a national senator for Patria Querida, affirmed that, in the same sense as Richer, she disagrees with senators running for TSJE ministers, considering that they are the ones who must decide who will be the next to occupy the vacancies.

“On the other hand, we have a person in whom we trust a lot, he is Marcial Cantero, a lawyer from the city of Encarnación. We believe that the two spaces should belong to the opposition. It is a body in charge of organizing elections”, he stated.
