From tomorrow Police will guard the 61 branches of the Savings Bank

After 4 armed persons entered the branch of the Caja de Ahorros de El Ingenio this morning, the General Manager of the bank, Juan Melillo, revealed that as of tomorrow, the 61 branches of the Caja de Ahorros will be guarded by the National Police.

Melillo stressed that all the Bank’s security protocols were followed to the letter by the collaborators and that the Police response was prompt.

He said that although the amount of money stolen has not been accounted for, the Bank’s vaults remain intact and he considered that the theft is a minor damage.

He added that they will continue to cooperate with the authorities to capture those involved.
It is worth mentioning that the deputy director of the National Police Simón Henríquez said that there are 5 people involved in this robbery, four who entered the Bank and the driver of the sedan-type vehicle in which they came to perpetrate the crime.

Last week the authorities managed to capture more than 5 people involved in another bank robbery.
