With the aim of preventing sexual exploitation and guaranteeing the safety of minors traveling on public transportation, the Superintendency of Transportation launched a strategy focused on the correct identification of these passengers.
Starting October 2, children and adolescents must travel accompanied by a responsible adult who presents the required documents, or have an authorization signed by their parents or legal guardian if traveling with third parties.
Nancy Mesa, delegate for User Protection, announced the new measure from the Bogotá Land Terminal, prior to the November holiday season.
The official highlighted that this guideline, framed in the circular of the Ministry of Transportation, seeks to avoid situations that violate the rights of minors and will be mandatory for all public transportation companies. Those who do not comply with the regulations could face sanctions.

In cases where you are traveling with people outside the family, the transport company must require an authorization signed by at least one of the parents or legal guardian.
In addition, adult companions must present valid documents such as a citizenship card, passport, or immigration card. For minors, valid documents include the civil registry, identity card, or passport.
If the minor is not received at their destination by the authorized person, the transport company must activate an emergency protocol, contacting the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF) to guarantee the protection of the minor until the authorities determine the course of treatment. action.
