From theater to cinema in “Acorde Final”, the new Dominican Republic film

Mario Peguero stars in the feature film. Pachy Banks-Cabral and Patricia Muñoz united by the seventh art.

Last June, filming concluded on the feature film “Acorde Final”, a debut film written and directed by Pachy Banks-Cabral and based on the award-winning play written by Patricia Muñoz.

The film brings together a list of Dominican talents, both local and resident abroad.

Patricia Muñoz once again embodies the character of Abril, which she played 10 years ago in the theatre and now stars in on the big screen.

This is a film adaptation that addresses a universal human theme: grief over the loss of a loved one.

In addition to Patricia, the cast also includes Luvil González (Isabel), one of the strongest actresses of the new generation, and Dolly Martínez (Carmen).

Stellar

The press release highlights the stellar participation of Mario Peguero (Cristóbal), who has had success in his acting career in the United States.

Peguero has participated in multiple productions at the Repertorio Español theater in New York and plays Santiago in the NBC series The Blacklist. Peguero is currently nominated for two Emmy Awards for his outstanding work as a presenter on Telemundo 47.

Raúl Plácido also participates, and there are special appearances by Henssy Pichardo, Lidia Ariza, and Papachín Lendor.

Both Mario Peguero and Pachy Banks-Cabral are Dominicans living abroad who bring their talents to the country to make Acorde Final.

Pachy Banks-Cabral and Patricia Muñoz decided to join forces to adapt to the big screen what they successfully brought to the stage of the National Theatre ten years ago. They formed the production company Las Pato Films which, in association with Estudio Quitasueño, produces Acorde Final.

The production promises to add the film to the list of Dominican productions that show that good Dominican cinema has the potential to be projected internationally. It is backed by investments from Banco BHD, Induveca and Aeropaq through the Film Law.

Synopsis

Acorde Final addresses a familiar and universal theme that reflects the difficulties of any family going through adversity and grief. It tells the story of Abril, who suffers an irreparable family loss in a car accident. Trying to deal with her pain, Abril obsessively immerses herself in her piano, ignoring the world around her, forgetting those around her, and disconcerting the family that still accompanies her, her children Isabel and Cristóbal, and her sister Carmen. Her piano rescues her and condemns her at the same time. Her children struggle to help Abril enjoy life again. Abril faces the challenge of trying to find purpose in the love of those around her.
