The youth of the UDI, National Renewal (RN), Evópoli, Christian Democracy (DC), PPD, Radical Party (PR), Socialist Party (PS), Democratic Revolution (RD), Social Convergence (CS), Commons, Humanist Action (AH), the Green Ecologist Party and the FRVS signed the statement.

“In the current climate context, their adherence is not only necessary but also urgent in order to guarantee that citizens have the necessary tools to face this emergency,” they indicated, adding that “it is our future that is at stake.”

Escazu Agreement

The Escazú Agreement -valid for Latin American and Caribbean countries- seeks the implementation of the rights of access to environmental information, public participation in environmental decision-making processes and access to justice in environmental matters.

For the coordinator of the “Escazú Now Chile” campaign, Sebastian Benfeldthe publication of the declaration among the youth of the political parties, is key to the advancement of the treaty in the country.

“For Chile to be part of this important treaty, it is necessary that the great majority of the parliamentarians of the Lower and Upper House of Congress cast their vote in favor of ratification. An issue that today seems highly likely after the issuance of this statement.
