The Argentine had been the technical assistant of José Néstor Pékerman in Colombia. He comes from being the helmsman of Melgar de Perú.
After weeks of rumors and dozens of names that were in the rattle to lead the Colombian National Team, finally the Argentine Néstor Lorenzo ended up being the chosen one.
The confirmation was made a few minutes ago from the Colombian Football Federation itself, who welcomed the new coach through a video:
- «Welcome Néstor Lorenzo to our National Team! From the FCF we wish that together we reap many successes».

The Argentine arrives at the technical direction of the tricolor where he had already been as a technical assistant to the also Argentine and successful José Néstor Pékerman between 2012 and 2018.
As will be remembered, at the time the National Team had good presentations under the command of said coaching staff, achieving fifth place in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and later reaching the quarterfinals in Russia 2018, when it was eliminated on penalties against England.
