The tourist dollar emerged almost three months ago when the Federal Administration of Public Revenues (AFIP) ordered an increase in the perception on account of taxes on Income and on Personal Assets. Currently, the Government ordered a new tax on these perceptions and the restrictions to travel abroad will be greater, considering the dollar card.
The new exchange rate It will be made up of the official dollar price added to the COUNTRY Tax (30%), the collection on account of Earnings and Personal Assets (45%), and the new tax (25%). The dollar card it will be for consumption over 300 dollars per month, tickets abroad and tour packages.
The dollar card which would have a value close to 300 pesos per dollar, does not include purchases for hoarding or streaming services.
The mission of the Government with this measure is to slow down the outflow of foreign currency destined for tourism abroad, that according to the latest report on the evolution of the exchange market and the exchange balance of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA), the exchange balance for this sector ended August with a deficit of US$758 million.
Regarding tourism, the AFIP adjusted the rate in the payment of Earnings and Personal Assets from 35% to 45% in the consumption of foreign currency for travel and expenses abroad.
The government’s goal with this change is to concentrate the dollars available for the productive sector and discourage and reduce those who leave for leisure, such as travel and tourism in general.
The Coldplay Dollar
From the Ministry of Economy and in accordance with the diversifications in the exchange rates, a dollar emerged to pay foreign artists who give shows in our country. The Coldplay dollar was agreed upon with the Argentine Association of Theatrical and Musical Entrepreneurs.
It is estimated that the Coldplay dollar will be used to pay for 150 shows that will take place before the end of the year, including the 10 recitals of the band that gives its name to the new exchange rate, Coldplay.
Companies will have the advantage of having these currencies immediately and viewers will also get tickets at affordable prices for international shows.
