Colorado senator Silvio “Beto” Ovelar lamented that Caaguazú went from being a labor capital to one of marginality, due to the “prostitution” and corruption of the current national authorities.
The former SAS minister, Héctor Cárdenas, explained that Caaguazú registers the highest number of poverty in our country. Asked about it, the Senator Silvio Ovelar remembered that he had installed the conditional transfer program, a copy of Brazil and Mexico with the well-known Zero Hunger and Opportunities programs, respectively. “Success does not lie in adding more beneficiaries but in cutting poverty in the bud”, he indicated on the point.
“The prostitution of money transfer programs in social programs leads to extreme situations like the one Argentina is experiencing, for example, and we are on the verge of that,” he added in an interview with 650 AM radio.

The Colorado legislator said that Caaguazú is not the poorest department, but that the tool is distorted to add more beneficiaries and thus have an electoral clientele to blackmail.
“From being the capital of work, today we have become the capital of indigence and indignity. Unfortunately, during electoral times absolutely everything is distorted. Today a director of a binational entity breaks the work scheme and becomes campaign manager for his candidate with the resources of that entity”, he lamented.
In his opinion, currently, due to a strictly electoral desire, they are prostituting absolutely everything and are reaching unimaginable degrees of corruption. Complaints in all departments are adding up everywhere, according to the interviewee.
