The effort and conviction of Ángel Iván Vidal Velarde, a 19 -year -old from Satipo, in the Junín region, made him an example for other applicants. Despite being an emergency for appendicitis, he did not want to miss the admission exam of the National University of Engineering (UNI), an institution in which he dreams of studying since childhood.

The young man said he convinced his parents to move to Lima and prepare exclusively to enter the UNI. However, days before the exam, an abdominal pain led him to an operating room. Although his family asked him to wait for an upcoming opportunity, he insisted on presenting himself: “They operated on me, but I came to fulfill my dream,” he said.
