From March 2023 there will be a new reinforcement in vaccination against Covid-19for people who are immunosuppressed and over 50 years of age, informed the Minister of Public Health (MSP), Daniel Salinas, to Telenoche.
“A reinforcement for those over 50 years exclusively with a single dose and for immunosuppressed”explained the minister, who assured that vaccination it will be done with Pfizer.
Reinforcing the vaccination scheme for that part of the population was a decision that the MSP authorities made after an evaluation by the Vaccine Advisory Commission.
Salinas indicated that a risk analysis was carried out for each age group “and there is practically no mortality in these groups due to the high number of people vaccinated and the immunity that was obtained with the omicron wave at the beginning of 2022.”
“Absolutely effective”
The minister maintained that vaccination against the coronavirus has been “absolutely effective” in the countryand that the benefits of vaccination “were demonstrated.”
“The importance of completing the vaccination scheme that we recommend at the time for those who have not completed it is reaffirmed,” he concluded.
