It was an intense Sunday on the last day of October: from the Italian city of Florence early in the morning to the coastal Livorno, where the mayor, Luca Salvetti, gave an official recognition to the Henry Reeve Brigades that collaborated in Italy to face the pandemic.
Salvetti highlighted “the important altruistic, solidary and humanitarian work” of Cuba, and this award shows that “the Medical Brigade that arrived in our country in the most dramatic phases of the health emergency has not been forgotten.”
It was received by the writer and journalist Enrique Ubieta, who accompanied the Cuban doctors in Turin as part of the Brigade and has been presenting in Italy the books of his authorship that were born from that experience.
It is a recognition that, as he said in the official ceremony at the Communal Palace, will be taken to the Cuban health authorities and the Brigade.
From Livorno to a meeting in nearby Pisa, which in addition to the rich heritage and the well-known Tower, impressive by the way, is home to enthusiastic groups in solidarity with the island and with other just causes such as Palestine.
