The National Penitentiary and Prison Institute (INPEC) confirmed the transfer of Jhonier Leal to the ‘La Tramacúa’ prison, located in Valledupar, last Friday, September 13.

Jhonier Leal was transferred on the night of September 13 under strict security measures, after prohibited objects were apparently found in his cell at La Picota.

According to reports from RCN Radio, the Attorney General’s Office carried out an inspection in Leal’s cell, where evidence of “inappropriate behavior” was found, such as the use of a cell phone.
The Prosecutor’s Office stated: “Following information received by this office through open media such as TikTok, in relation to the convicted Jhonier Rodolfo Leal Hernández, who allegedly uses cell phones within the penitentiary establishment, as well as other unauthorized benefits.”
Given these findings, a request was made for his transfer to the High and Medium Security Penitentiary of Valledupar (CPAMS), known as ‘La Tramacúa’. The transfer procedure was carried out under a strict security protocol on September 13.
Jhonier Leal is serving a sentence of 55 years and 3 months in prison for the murders of his brother, Mauricio Leal, and his mother, Marleny Hernández, which occurred in November 2021.
He was found guilty of aggravated murder and concealing evidence, as he tampered with the crime scene using gloves and cleaning the place with cleaning products.
In addition, handwriting tests revealed that the alleged suicide note did not match the handwriting of any of the victims.
