José Manuel Ponce Díaz and Juana Merma Cruz, a couple who are fans of the anime Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer), said “I do” in a community wedding organized by the Provincial Municipality of Arequipa. Dressed as their favorite characters from the famous series, José played Giyu Tomioka, one of the most prominent Demon Hunters, while Juana transformed into Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Pillar. The event stood out for its originality and the joy of the bride and groom, who decided to celebrate their union in a very special way.

The couple, who have been together for six years, met through the “Mi media manzana” app in 2018. Since then, they share a love of anime, a hobby that Juana adopted thanks to José. “I started watching anime since I was with him, and now it’s something we enjoy together. We decided to get married in our own way, in the way that makes us happy.”Juana commented excitedly during the ceremony.

This themed wedding was an expression of the special connection that unites them and their shared passion for anime. Regarding their future plans, José and Juana revealed that they plan a religious wedding next October, where they will also have an anime-themed party. They have announced that all guests will have to dress as anime characters, although they clarified that older guests can opt for more formal outfits if they prefer.
