Among the approved reforms he mentioned the reform of the Judiciary, labor rights, substantive equality and indigenous communities, among others.
However, all of these reforms mentioned are part of the package that López Obrador sent since February 5 and that, after having been frozen for half a year in the Chamber of Deputies, were revived in September, already in the 66th Legislature and with a qualified majority. of Morena and allies.
Meanwhile, the Senate reported the presentation of 439 initiatives and 326 points of agreement.
He reported on the approval of 16 constitutional reforms – with modification of 36 articles – 3 new laws and 16 changes to other regulations. It counted 352 appointments, promotions and diplomatic designations, in a total of 231 hours and 51 minutes of session.
What did the legislators do in their first term?
For deputies and senators, the number one priority was to move forward with the package of reforms proposed by López Obrador, so that of the 20 that the Tabasco native presented, only four were pending.
These are: the constitutional reform regarding the remuneration of public servants, the pension reform (the objective was achieved via secondary law reform), the electoral reform and changes related to transgenic corn.
Of the current president’s proposals – included in seven packages of initiatives – all were approved by the Senate, but three minutes were submitted and were pending in the Chamber of Deputies, for a next ordinary or extraordinary period.
Two are related to secondary laws regarding “constitutional supremacy”: reforms to the Amparo law (regulatory of articles 103 and 107 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States) and to the Regulatory Law of Sections I and II of the Article 105 of the Constitution.
In addition, another minute of reforms to the Law of the Institute of the National Housing Fund for Workers (Infonavit) and the Federal Labor Law, regarding socially oriented housing.
