Cuernavaca, Mor., The recent arrests of former collaborators of Genaro García Luna are linked to the security companies that the official established during the government of Enrique Peña Nieto, which have been investigated since the six-year term of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, stated President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
He recalled that García Luna, Secretary of Public Security with Felipe Calderón, is sentenced in the United States for links with criminal groups, so that “Calderón put the famous war against the narco”, he stressed.
The president recalled in her press conference that after leaving the Ministry of Public Security, the former official “dedicated himself to doing security business and has many contracts with federal and state government institutions.”
He stressed that there are “investigations, because it turns out that many of the contracts he made were more expensive than they should have been or they did not comply.
“These arrests recently made by the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) have to do with these complaints.”
When asked about Uriel Carmona, former prosecutor of Morelos, the President recalled that he has several protections “from the old Judicial Branch.”

For his part, Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, assured that the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF) and the FGR are investigating the marble and stone signatures that were used for the international transfer of methamphetamines, after the Spanish National Police and the DEA dismantled a cell of the Sinaloa cartel.
He maintained that the Spanish “would not have to notify us” of an operation they carried out locally, although “by having detained Mexicans – one from Jalisco and one from Sinaloa –, there is an exchange of information,” and there is a delegate from the National Intelligence Center there, in addition to the fact that Mexico will be involved in the customs investigation.
He explained that the Spanish government’s operation began in 2023, and “of the nine detained this time, some had already been apprehended and were released there.”
