The French Development Agency (AFD) wants to finance the construction of the macro sewage treatment plant in the city of Tarija to avoid contamination of the Guadalquivir river, informed the mayor Johnny Torres.
The building authority said that the offer was made known through a letter, but the Municipal Government You cannot assume the debt alone and it has to be with the central government.
According to Torres, it requires more than Bs 500 million for the construction of the macro plant wastewater treatment plant to be located on land in the area called Polígono 4, at the height of the Cabeza de Toro stream, in municipal district 10.
AFD is also ready to finance other projects to stop the degradation process and environmental contamination in the Guadalquivir river basin.
Torres admitted that in a letter sent to President Luis Arce he made him aware not only of the financing alternative, but also of the actions that are needed to restore that tributary that houses 300 thousand people that correspond to more than half of the inhabitants of the department of Tarija.
“This affecting the availability of water for both human consumptionor as for production and nature, which is also deteriorating the possibilities of leading a dignified life on the part of its inhabitants,” warned the mayor in the letter.
Torres tried to meet with Arce days before the departmental event and there was no response to his request for a hearing.
Despite everything, the mayor will insist and send another letter, through the regular channel to the president, with the supporting documents of the land where the project will be built after its presentation yesterday to settle a historical debt.
