In November 2012, 2,300 councilors formed the first Morena National Council. A historic moment for the construction of the party that leads the presidency of the Republic, the largest number of governorships, local Congresses and the Congress of the Union. In addition, he is an outspoken favorite to win the presidential chair again in 2024, whatever the candidate or the candidate.
a reality check
Since López Obrador came to power in 2018, the ideological situation has changed drastically. Perhaps not in the decrees that are inscribed in its platform or declaration of principles, but on a day-to-day basis, since the self-proclaimed “fourth transformation” has abandoned the intention of turning the country into a socialist country to show itself in the center of the political spectrum. and thus govern pragmatically; a way to respond to immediate problems in a way that is more in line with “your data”.
The movement seeks that the reactions are functional for its mission as an organization: to continue winning elections, throughout the national territory, to strengthen its regime.
Faced with the immense number of politicians from the conservative current, from the PRI and PAN, who have joined the Obradorista current, the president of national regeneration often responds that Morena is plural, since it is enshrined in its principles that: “Morena is a space open, plural and inclusive, in which people from all social classes and from diverse currents of thought, religions and cultures participate”.
It would be endless to detail each of the controversies and contradictions in which the 4T has fallen, since its formation as a small opposition party, but which today governs 46% of Mexicans (58 million people).
But in the face of constant violence by organized crime groups and the late, ineffective and ineffective action of the federal government, the Executive has had to make a 360-degree change to drastically change its strategy. The idea is to give not more, but all the power to the Army so that they can confront the savage narco-terrorists who have plunged the country into chaos.
For this, the president will send on September 1 the preferential initiative for the ascription of the National Guard to the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena).
López Obrador was effusive in declaring: “It is the initiative that I am going to send on September 1 and that there is opposition from the conservatives who do not want to approve anything, not even this, not even something of greater benefit to the people.”
This next reform goes completely against the principles of “pacifism” that AMLO promised in 2010, when he was categorically opposed to the Army being in the streets.
Drastic change
In 2012, both Mario Delgado and Citlalli Hernández (current general secretary of Morena) campaigned on social networks with the badge: “No to militarization.” Today their arguments are clearly opposite and they say they fully support their leader.
On August 29, one of the moral leaders of the left in Mexico, Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas, was invited to the plenary session of the Senate’s Plural Group. There, the former presidential candidate was severely critical when pointing out that López Obrador is not from the left, since he does not observe that there is a true defense of national sovereignty or an effective strategy to combat inequality.
