That new cooperative, supportive and empathetic Mexicanism was applauded and admired in many other countries. Leaving behind any cultural, religious or social division, an army of women and men arose that sought to lift Mexico City -and other sinister places- from the rubble and rescue their neighbors; others were also concerned about lost or trapped pets and people participated in the creation of a method to verify information, organize spontaneous brigadistas, among dozens of new jobs.

Mexico transits in a democratic revolt as it had not lived before. Although our country is extremely young in its internal struggle for free expression, groups that represent minorities have managed to raise their voices in a historical way. This is clearly progress; however, there have also been excesses, which have abruptly polarized Mexicans into groups that clash ideologically or philosophically. A situation that we had not seen before.
Perhaps where the battle and the hatred have focused is in the arena of social networks, where hundreds, or thousands, of ineffective battles are usually waged, but which have strongly damaged society. The division not only separates, it also sickens, radicalizes, offends, insults, judges, insults, lynches, condemns.
And we, “the owners of the truth”; “experts in everything” and ready to face debate at any time, so “we think we think”, we are still here, with the same fragility of 1985 and 2017.
Because when we were all out of the buildings, after running for our lives, we saw each other again. And we are reflected in the dilated pupils caused by terror. And there we remembered again that we are not as distant, nor as different as we thought. There, reality once again reminded us of our dependence on each other.
