East August 6 and 7 will take place in the Application High School the first Festival of Trades and Graphic Arts Kontrabandoa large ?esta that seeks to celebrate the arts and artistic activities, generating a meeting space between creators and audiences to encourage interaction, dialogue and cultural participation in a format open to the community.
With more than seven years of experience from self-management, the collective contraband -made up of managers from the graphic trade, the performing arts and music- has for the first time the funding of the Fondart Regional for the development of what it hopes to be “a great event around the creative processes and work artistic live”, scheduled for the Children’s Day weekend and with multiple activities parallel to the main fair, which will have more than 80 stands of national creators.
«The festival seeks to generate an instance of visibility and appreciation of the graphic arts and the artistic trades of our territory; and on the other hand, it aspires to consolidate itself as a free event, inclusive and open to the community, so that people can learn about the work behind each piece and artistic expression»explain its organizers, who also invite the community of local artists to participate in the fair “as a space for the exchange of knowledge, techniques, knowledge”, which seeks to contribute at the same time to the reactivation of the cultural sector.
Musical programming, free workshops and a live press
The backbone of the festival will be the “Graphic Arts Fair”, where you can visit the different stalls dedicated to different disciplines such as serigraphy, engraving, illustration, drawing or comics; I?cios such as textile art, costume design, accessories, ceramics, photography, among others. A wide variety
of exhibitors make up the poster of this first festival, where art will not only be for sale, since the purpose of the organization is “inviting you to go through the fair as an exhibition of local creation”, a tour that they guarantee as an enriching experience and significant for all attendees.
In addition, the festival will feature a large billboard of workshops, among which stand out a lettering workshop Y signs in charge of poster; Mask workshop for childrenbeside nicole salgado; illustration with Sol Diaz; or the Character creation workshop with MiniScholarship; among others.
As for the artistic interventions that will be distributed throughout both days, the installation of a “live printing” in the courtyard of the Liceo de Aplicacion, an instance in which more than a dozen projects related to serigraphy, xylography and typographic printing will participate. The purpose of this installation is that people can interact with tools, materials and learn about the methodologies that artists use to reach their results, giving the opportunity to express themselves not only to those who exhibit their work, but also to the audience.
