Free WiFi in CDMX to reduce the digital divide, says Brenda Escobar

Free WiFi in CDMX to reduce the digital divide, says Brenda Escobar

Who is Brenda Escobar?

Brenda Escobar is the Policy Director for Connectivity and Telecommunications Infrastructure at the Digital Agency for Public Innovation (ADIP). She is an electronics engineer and has a master’s degree in Communications Technologies, Systems and Networks from the Polytechnic University of Valencia.

He states that his interest in technology began at a very young age, which defined his professional path.

“Since I was a teenager, perhaps a little earlier, I was very interested in technological things that perhaps at that time were not so much in vogue, but I think there was a curiosity from a very early age,” he says.

He considers that his greatest challenge within the ADIP has been precisely the free internet program.

“We are in the 16 municipalities, to date we have more than 24,000 access points and that was done in the three years and months that this administration has been in office.

“I think that in terms of telecommunications it has been a very important challenge because generally this type of project requires the deployment of infrastructure that is not in the short term, probably in the medium term. For example, the first year we managed to have about 13,000 access points in just about 10 months,” he shares.
