MIAMI, United States. – Cuban activist Yeilis Torres, who served nine months in prison for eConfront the official presenter Humberto López in May 2021, was cleared of criminal charges Wednesday, according to a car issued by the Havana Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.

Likewise, the order indicates that Torres and López showed “conformity with the relevant decision.”

The activist, for her part, had the precautionary measure of cash bail to which she was subject withdrawn and an administrative fine of 3,000 Cuban pesos was imposed on her.

“Free of criminal charges and more lies by reading this [el auto de la Fiscalía] I was disgusted because the impudence is so great that it does not tell the truth. But my heart is not free yet, there are many brothers in prison. Freedom for all political prisoners.” Torres wrote on Facebook.

Although On Saturday, May 8, 2021, Humberto López attacked the activist, who discovered him in an alleged infidelity and confronted him when he was leaving a building in Havana, it was Torres who he was in prison until march this year and faced criminal proceedings until this Wednesday.

“I was beaten by Humberto López, he got tired of taking pictures of me with my buttocks out, because I was wearing a dress; he got tired of throwing me to the floor. If it wasn’t for a friend who interceded, he would have hit me harder. He hit me in the stomach when I was on the floor and now I am waiting for the political police, who will surely come for me, ”Torres denounced on Facebook after the incident.

The meeting with the official spokesman, who is also a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), was broadcast live through the same social network a little earlier.

After being detained, the activist from the Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU) was charged with the alleged crime of “disrespect.”
