Freddy Superlano turns 200 days, without visits or access to lawyers

Freddy Superlano relatives and lawyers denounce that in their case the due process has been completely violated and both the Public Ministry and Ombudsman have ignored the requirement of their constitutional rights and guarantees as deprived of liberty

Freddy Superlano celebrates 200 days in technically “forced disappearance.” In almost seven months, no government instance has given information about his whereabouts. His family and lawyers have not been able to see him, they do not know his physical and health status, they fear for his life and integrity.

«I have not been able to see or verify my husband’s physical state. I do not know if he is being physically tortured and that is why they don’t let me see it. There is no reason why Freddy must be detained, he has not committed any crime, ”said Aurora Silva, wife of the leader (VP) on the outskirts of the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) last Thursday, where she went for the fifth time since without identification officials took her husband.

Superlano, coordinator of the Orange Party, founded by Leopoldo López, was arrested on July 30, in Caracas, during a “persecution”, in which he was shot at the vehicle where he moved and collided, until they intercepted him on the main avenue of Sebucan, Sucre municipality of the Miranda state. At the time they were persecuted, the Superlano assistant, Renso Salinas and his driver Rafael García, were also apprehended.

«Freddy has 200 days in prolonged isolation. We have gone to all the instances that we can bring our complaint and demand, without emabargo, we do not obtain any official information or response, ”says Aurora Silva, superlano’s wife.

Since then they have been days of anguish, fear and violations of the laws and fundamental guarantees that the State should guarantee every person apprehended by justice, Silva points out in stating that the father of his two daughters is innocent. Therefore, he demands that they respect his family’s right and access to his trusted lawyers.

So far their wishes have not been heard. The supplications in the Ombudsman’s Office and in the Public Ministry have not been successful. The information about the opposition leader knows it unofficially and although they carry food and supplies to the headquarters of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin) in the Helicoid, they have not officially confirmed that it is there.

In the same situation are found Jesús Armas, Biagio Pilieri, Rafael Ramírez, Américo de Grazia, the lawyer Perkins Rocha, Alfredo Díaz and the journalist Roland Carreño“Those who are unfairly detained, because they have not committed any crime and there is no evidence against them.”

Irregular process

On September 5, Attorney General Tarek William Saab linked it with Perkins Rocha and Biagio Pilieri with the dissemination of the voting records published by the Unitary Democratic Platform (PU POD). In a press conference, he said that the three were interviewed by the Public Ministry for allegedly incuring “usurpation of functions”, “forgement of public document”, “instigation of the disobedience of laws” and conspiracyamong other crimes.

That is the only information they handle the case since they do not have access to the file either. He was presented by Telematics and at the preliminary hearing he was denied the assistance of his trusted lawyer, which in this case is Joel García.

“What we are seeing is a dirty game, a judicial farce that not only violates the human rights of the detainees, but also attacks the very heart of what a democratic process should be,” Garcia warned in a press conference that he offered To denounce the irregularities about the case of Superlano and other political prisoners that meet the same pattern: prolonged isolation, imposition of public defenders, celebration of telematic audience, among other violations of due process.

Given this situation, they have attended international instances such as the UN, the United Nations High Commissioner, Inter -American Commission on Human Rights and the International Criminal Court, who, according to Silva, are aware of the situation and have sent communications to the institutions to the institutions Nationals in charge of these guarantees but have been ignored.

Superlano’s wife says that the administration of Nicolás Maduro, “plays fatigue since the spirit.” However, he argues that he maintains hope and that in all the opportunities he has to denounce and raise his voice for political prisoners in Venezuela, so that blunt actions are taken against the violation of human rights to which they are subjected.

*Journalism in Venezuela is exercised in a hostile environment for the press with dozens of legal instruments arranged for the punishment of the word, especially the laws “against hatred”, “against fascism” and “against blockade.” This content is being published taking into account the threats and limits that, consequently, have been imposed on the dissemination of information from within the country.
