“Because of the decline that the parties have taken and because of the rise that the independents have taken, these people are taking this option, but it is difficult for the citizen to distinguish between free candidacy and independent in a scenario where due disclosure is not being given and teaching towards citizenship,” he said.
The political activist and candidate for deputy for free application, Freddy Pittí, analyzed the issue of some people who seek signatures or aspire to seek signatures for free application while they are registered in parties.
He explained that at this time, many people from political parties, and taking into account the decline of the collectives and their poor performance over the years, are now opting for this free nomination modality, but they are not necessarily independent, because practically they are offshoots of these parties.
“Because of the decline that the parties have taken and because of the rise that the independents have taken, these people are taking this option, but it is difficult for the citizen to distinguish between free candidacy and independent in a scenario where due disclosure is not being given and teaching towards citizenship. The parties are taking advantage of this lack of information and are going to run as independents,” he remarked.
