Freddy Pitti points out that in these three years the Mayor’s Office of Panama has proven to be deficient

Freddy Pitti, from the Pro-Revocation Citizens Movement, provided details this Thursday, about the presentation of the request for access to information in the Municipality of Panama, to explain the increase in the entity’s payroll during the pandemic.

“We realize this unusual growth between these critical years of the pandemic, when we take out the number of officials who were hired from Mr. Fábrega taking office as mayor, we are talking about more than a thousand officials,” he explained.

He added that the mayor’s office is deficient, “a mayor’s office that in three years has shown that it does not have the capacity or that perhaps it does not have the will, but out there in the infrastructure of Panama City, which speaks for itself, you can see the deterioration of the works that have been built in recent years”.

Pitti mentioned that it is important to send a message to the authorities that they are not perpetual and that if they do not fulfill their tasks, and are not transparent, there will be consequences.

“We are facing a citizenry that is no longer passive, that is willing to take action, is willing to go through the government route and demand to assert their rights,” he said.

In the document presented by the lawyer, information is also requested on the cut and elimination of subsidies to NGOs by the Municipality of Panama.
