The group of citizens who requested detailed information on the form from the Municipality of Panama lamented that instead of providing it, the local government tries to confuse the population.
The Mayor’s Office issued a statement this Monday, July 25, in which it detailed that the documentation requested on the form is in the transparency node and that if it is requested printed or authenticated in copies, generating reproduction costs, it must be paid for by the applicant. , as established by Law 6 of January 22, 2002, on Access to Information.
The reaction of the Mayor’s Office came after Freddy Pittí, spokesman for the group of citizens, announced that they were requesting $4,424 in exchange for reproducing the information on the hiring of personnel that Mayor José Luis Fábrega made during the pandemic, between 2020 and 2022.
The political activist and candidate for deputy for the 8-3 circuit for the free candidacy, thinks that the Comptroller’s Office has a very great responsibility in this case and has to express itself and say something about what is happening here. “These documents must be digitized and on the web page, because it is a citizen’s right to know how public funds are handled,” he remarked.
Pittí stressed that the Transparency Node is not functional to the request made to the Municipality of Panama. “We request hours that people and positions meet, and in the Transparency Node it is not so detailed. Here what we do not want is for phantom hiring or appointments or bottles to continue taking place in institutions, for all information to be transparent. for everyone’s peace of mind,” he concluded.
