Freddy Bernal assured that in Táchira there are no irregular armed groups

Freddy Bernal, governor of Táchira, confirmed that peace is guaranteed in the entity and said that there have been no incidents of violence since a security operation was activated on the border

The governor of the state of Táchira, Freddy Bernal, assured that the issue of irregular armed groups is a problem in Colombia and that it affects Venezuela, for which reason he denied that this type of organization “raised against the Republic” or Others engaged in criminal activities.

Bernal regretted that the violence in Colombia continues, after the suspension of the ceasefire between the FARC dissidents and the government led by Gustavo Petro was announced. In this sense, he defended the Colombian president from what happened by saying that violent actions have been taking place in the neighboring country for more than 60 years and that, in some way, it affects Venezuelan territory.

He ratified that peace is guaranteed in Táchira and said that since the secure border operation was activated, no incident of violence has been recorded.

This operation at the security border was recorded after an attack with a grenade on a local in the area was recorded in a sector of the Pedro María Ureña municipality that left at least eight people injured at the beginning of Month of May.

Days later, Bernal announced that security was being strengthened along the Colombian-Venezuelan border axis, to deal with crime. He said at the time that there was a “crime triangle” that stretches from Cúcuta, Villa del Rosario, Los Patios, Ureña and San Antonio in which armed groups have concentrated.

Then, on May 14, the governor of Táchira indicated that three presumed antisocials implicated in the attack on the premises at the beginning of the month were killed.

Through a video on his social networks, Bernal indicated that there was a confrontation between a criminal group and security officials, after one of the alleged criminals threw a grenade at a contingent of the Directorate Against Organized Crime (DCDO) of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) and they returned fire.
