Frank De Lima is called to trial for alleged embezzlement to the detriment of the Tocumen Airport

The former Minister of Economy and Finance (MEF), Frank De Lima and four other people will be called to trial for the alleged commission of the crime against the public administration, in the modality of the different forms of embezzlement, committed to the detriment of the Tocumen International Airport , SA

The defendants are linked to an anonymous complaint received at the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office of the Attorney General’s Office on August 21, 2014, referring to alleged inappropriate and recurring handling that was taking place in parking contracts at said air terminal, among other things. anomalies that, according to an audit report, reflected a patrimonial injury to the State in the amount of B/.1,946,944.68.

This after the First Settlement Court for Criminal Cases of the First Judicial Circuit of Panama, through resolution No. 2 of January 3, opened a criminal case against these five citizens.

The personal precautionary measure imposed at the time was maintained on these defendants, the judge in the case denied the incidents of prescription of the criminal action and annulment filed by private defense lawyers.

The date set for this ordinary hearing is May 15, 2023, at 2:00 pm, and as an alternate date, June 29 of the same year at the appointed time.

In the event that the private defense does not attend this hearing, public defenders have been appointed to continue with the trial.
