One of the priority reforms is that of micromobility, which seeks to regulate the use of electric vehicles in Mexico City.
The reform to the capital of capital mobility proposed by the head of government establishes that all vehicles that driven by an electric motor, internal combustion or any other technology that reach a speed greater than 25 kilometers per hour will be considered as motor vehicles.
With this, those who use bicycles, skates, skateboards or other electric vehicles that have the ability to move more than 25 kilometers per hour must count and carry with them their current driver’s license, as well as follow the driving rules defined in the Transit Regulation.
“It is an initiative to order transport in public space. Different categories are created to account for a new social reality with new mobility mechanisms.
“What we do not want is that in areas that are designed for non -motorized mobility, such as cycle paths, they circulate this kind of vehicles that often have an engine of considerable power,” explains deputy Paulo García.
