His business story began when he was fifteen years old, he was in school and wanted to go out to a party with his friends, but his family was going through a difficult economic time and he did not want to ask his parents for money. He was presented with the opportunity to sell tickets in exchange for one free for himself and he did not stop until he managed to manage 35 promoters and make charts in the best clubs in Asia.
“That’s how I met the owner of the Noctambul nightclub, which at the time was empty. He had a cevichería-type restaurant, but not many people went. So, I proposed to make a sushi buffet at the table and we called it an open bar of makis. It is there, at Oceanika, that the concept of an open bar for makis was launched for the first time. It was a super success”, says the businessman.
After that great success is when he decides to start Roll-Star Suhi Bar?
He then worked for Oceanika for five years as a Marketing Manager. At the age of 25, already in another job, unfortunately my father died of a heart attack and left a very large mortgage debt. It wasn’t going to be enough for my mom and my brother to pay for it with our used jobs, so I sold my car, my motorcycle and asked for a loan to buy the transfer of a business in La Molina, near San Ignacio where I was studying at that time. .
Is this how you start your first venture in the restaurant business?
Motivated by a family misfortune, losing my father, is that I jumped into the pool in the field of restaurants. And today, it is the most successful and the number one in sales by applications. Now, my mother is one of my main providers together with my brother, and they live more calmly.
It is said that he has created as many as 23 brands.
That’s right, that allowed me to create other ventures. I have had a gym in La Encalada, four clothing brands, ice cream and several other businesses. Not all of them have gone well, I have gone bankrupt in some, they have cheated me in others, but I have been learning what works and what does not work.
How did you manage to be successful with your current brands?
There is no secret formula and there is no magic wand either. But I do believe that you can reduce your chance of failure to the minimum possible. Carry out a real market study, not with your family and friends, but with the people in the area who buy from your direct competition. There is no formula, but if you take the correct steps to have a good product and a good service, backed by a good brand and you supervising, it will work sooner than you realize.
It can be said then, that undertaking is your passion.
On a day to day I like to create these kind of crazy marketing campaigns for some brands that I have like Fucking Guys. They break from the conventional to what we are used to and I think I transmit them very well on Instagram. I love Marketing and Advertising, but my hobby and passion is racing cars. Many times I hear entrepreneurs say that entrepreneurship is their passion and I would tell them to take responsibility for what they say.
Is there a relationship between what you like to do with Marketing and your passion for cars?
In any case, it is similar to the subject of business due to the spirit of competitiveness that exists. You have to go faster, go ahead and leave the rest behind with the tools you have. On a day-to-day basis there is a lot of competition. So, in a venture and with cars you have to manage resources well and be efficient.
