Santo Domingo.- “The Government must first think about the difficult economic reality in which the poor and middle class of the Dominican Republic live before submitting the tax reform to the National Congress for discussion,” warned the presidential candidate of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Francisco Javier García.
“I have read the announcement by the Director General of the Budget that next week the Government will be presenting its proposal for tax reform, which seeks to increase government revenues to improve the fiscal deficit of the State’s finances, and I hope that he has thought about the difficult economic situation that the poor and the middle class are going through,” he said.
Garcia said that government authorities should reflect on the waste of unnecessary expenses they have incurred in the last four years.
He said that the success of the PLD administrations was in the execution of adequate planning and in the prioritization of public spending, “which allowed them to generate well-being for the population.”
He said that today we cannot even speak properly of the existence of a middle class, because many of those who were part of that segment have become poor.
Will reverse the situation
The PLD strategist said that he has taken on the challenge of launching his presidential aspirations in the current situation to guarantee the return of the PLD to power in the elections to be held in 2028.
I will win the elections in 2028, he added, and I would reverse this situation of hopelessness in which the majority of the Dominican people live.
This week, García will continue his visits to PLD leadership structures, this Wednesday in Santo Domingo Oeste, on Thursday in Santo Domingo Norte, on Friday in San José de Ocoa and on Saturday in Hato Mayor.
