Francisco Javier denounces business failure and decrease in tourism in Samaná

Francisco Javier denuncia quiebra de negocios y disminución del turismo en Samaná

SANTO DOMIGO.- The presidential candidate of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Francisco Javier García, denounced the bankruptcy of businesses and the decrease in tourist activity in the province of Samaná, due to government abandonment.

The former Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic said that it is evident that the aforementioned demarcation lacks mourners in the National Congress or in the Executive Branch who look after its interests.

“I was surprised by the level of deterioration and neglect in which the government has the city and the province of Samaná. This tourist gem really has no mourners,” he said.

García made these comments after holding a meeting with the provincial leadership of the PLD and other levels of leadership of the organization. He later held a similar activity in the María Trinidad Sánchez province.

Decrease in tourism

The PLD leader said that the deterioration of infrastructure is causing businesses to go bankrupt as a result of the decrease in the influx of national and foreign tourists.

Samaná deserves better treatment from the government, he added, because it is one of the jewels that the Dominican Republic currently has.

He said that if government authorities do something in that territory, it must be looked for underground because absolutely nothing can be seen on the surface.
