The National Assembly (AN) approved by qualified majority the temporary separation of deputy Francisco Ameliach, representative of the Carabobo State by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), to assume functions as president of the Development Corporation of the Zulian Region (Corpozulia), a decision that was announced by the president of the AN, Jorge Rodríguez, during ordinary session.
The application was submitted to the Plenary as part of the procedure established for the exercise of positions in public entities. Ameliach, who is currently part of the Permanent Internal Policy Commission and represents Parliament before the State Council for the 2025-2026 period, will assume responsibilities in the planning and coordination of strategic projects in the west of the country.
Corpozulia is an institution attached to the National Executive, responsible for promoting economic, social and territorial development in the Zulia, Falcón and Lara states. Its work includes the articulation with regional governments, organized communities and productive sectors, in areas such as infrastructure, agribusiness, energy and basic services.
Francisco Ameliach has a trajectory in positions of popular election, including his management as governor of Carabobo. In addition, it is in a situation of retreat from the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), which gives it experience in public management and strategic planning.
With this designation, it is expected to advance in the execution of projects aimed at strengthening the Zulian region, in line with the guidelines of the Plan of the Homeland and territorial development policies promoted by the Bolivarian Government.
