The mayor of Magdalena, Francis Allisonreferred to the reasons why he decided at the beginning of this year to renounce his membership in the political party Alliance for Progress (APP), chaired by the governor of La Libertad, César Acuña.

In statements to the media from Marbella Beach, he stated that his departure from the ranks of the group is due to the fact that he has differences regarding the vision of the country. In that sense, he said that APP gives “absolute support” to the president’s government. Dina Boluarte.
“I did not resign from APP because of a specific case, but because I consider that APP’s vision of the country does not agree with mine. For example, for several months now I have been declaring to the press my disagreement with the support given by the party to which I belonged, absolute support, to the Government in power. I believe that no party should renounce political control, the division of powers, and that Congress has oversight among its functions. No political party should say: ‘I do not question, I do not censure, I do not vacuum’. “No one can renounce these powers,” he emphasized.
The mayor also commented on the alleged robbery suffered by Isabel Cajo, a Congress worker involved in the denunciation of the existence of an alleged prostitution network within this branch of the State, precisely in the Lima district of Magdalena. Regarding this, he defended the transparency of his community’s video surveillance system and denied the complainant’s version.
“The videos don’t lie. There was no assault in the mentioned area. Now, it will be the Prosecutor’s Office who determines the reasons behind the complainant’s statement,” he stated.
Finally, he said he felt qualified to run for Mayor of Lima in the October 2026 elections, although he considered it premature to announce his candidacy.
