Francia Márquez: Prosecutor’s Office did not find explosive devices in alleged attack

The Attorney General’s Office concluded that no explosive devices were found in the alleged attack denounced against him by Vice President Francia Márquez, when he was traveling to his family residence in the village of Yolombó in Suárez (Cauca).

This was confirmed by the attorney general, Francisco Barbosa, to Noticias Caracol, indicating that expert opinions were carried out by CTI agents.

“It was established that it was not an improvised explosive device, that is, did not have the elements to determine an explosion and therefore, no harm could be done to the Vice President of the Republic,” said Delegate Barbosa.

At the time, the vice president assured that “Members of my security team found an artifact with more than 7 kilos of explosive material on the road that leads to my family residence in the village of Yolombó, in Suarez, Cauca. It was destroyed in a controlled manner by SIJIN anti-explosive personnel.”

The attorney general indicated that in this case the investigators found a bottle with cables and elements of explosive origin, without constituting an explosive device.

Similarly, he maintained that they will expand the judicial actions to investigate the entire security scheme of Vice President Francia Márquez, in order to determine where these hypotheses arose.

“What may be happening is that the vice president does not want to make certain moves to their territories,” he said.

However, he specified that the prosecution is carrying out two other investigations. In the first, a hearing was requested for charges against Fabián Idarraga Toro, who acknowledged being behind the threats of which the vice president was a victim, in events that occurred on March 23.
