The president of the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (Conicet), Ana Franchi, met with researchers residing in the United Kingdom who are part of the Raices Program of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MINCyT), with the aim of strengthen the program, they reported this Friday.

Franchi highlighted the need to strengthen the synergy between the Networks, the MINCyT and the Conicet to identify the role of Argentine researchers, men and women scientists, and technologists abroad and that, as proposed by the Program, there are more spaces for bonding and transfer abroad.

The Network of Argentine Researchers and Scientists Abroad (Raices), is a program of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation, under direct dependence of the National Directorate of International Relations.

It is intended to strengthen the scientific and technological capacities of the country through the development of linkage policies with Argentine researchers residing abroad, as well as actions aimed at promoting the permanence of researchers in the country and the return of those interested in developing their activities in Argentina.

The meeting was attended by the Argentine ambassador to the United Kingdom, Javier Figueroa; the Argentine biologist and coordinator of the NETWORK in the United Kingdom, Isro Gloger and virtually, the coordinator of the Raíces Program at the MINCyT, Carolina Mera, joined.

The program has networks in twenty countries that articulate, with the MINCyT, the possible diagnoses of problems and develop concrete coordination actions.

This way, the UK network has over 100 members who carry out activities in various research disciplines such as health sciences, engineering, natural sciences, cell and molecular biology and social sciences.

Franchi also held meetings to coordinate and strengthen scientific cooperation with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) where the possibility of this company having fellows in the areas of immunology, infectious diseases and oncology was discussed.

He also discussed the initiative Trust in Science with the aim of continuing with the work of collaboration and support for research projects.
