France meet Denmark again for top of Group D

Hoy Paraguay

This Saturday in Doha (1:00 p.m.), France and Denmark will face each other for the third time this year, with the leadership of group D of the Qatar-2022 World Cup at stake and with the desire of the ‘Bleus’ to avenge the two defeats suffered before the Norse.

The reigning world champions They have the advantage of having added three points, leaving a great impression against Australia (4-1), while the danes they did not go beyond goalless draw against Tunisia.

Therefore, the victory would qualify the team led by Didier Deschampseven before facing Tunisia on November 30.

Although their debut in the competition was convincing, with a comprehensive victory against the ‘Socceroos’, Deschamps’s men cannot be confident against an opponent who beat them twice in 2022.

– Two defeats in 2022 for the ‘Bleus’ –

Both shared a group in the League of Nations of UEFA and met on June 3 at the Stade de France, where the ‘Bleus’ arrived in top form after a streak of 7 consecutive victories and a title in this same competition a few months earlier.

France went ahead with a goal from Karim Benzemabut in the last few minutes Andreas Cornelius turned the scoreboard around with a doublet.

That defeat did a lot of damage to the French, who chained two consecutive draws (1-1 in Croatia and 1-1 in Austria) before losing again at home against the Croats, thus saying goodbye to the fight to enter the Final 4 of the Nations League.

On September 25, with nothing left to play for, the French got a lesson from the Daneswho won 2-0 at the Parken in Copenhagen, a result that did not help the Nordics to qualify for the Final 4, a place that finally went to the Croats.

– Giroud, for the record –

If you manage to score, Olivier Giroud would become the top scorer in the history of the ‘Bleus’after having equaled Thierry Henry (51 goals) with a brace against the Australians.

The two teams lost two important men in their schemes on the first day: the left back Lucas Hernandezwho seriously injured his knee against Australia, and the Sevilla midfielder Thomas Delaneyalso with knee problems.

The team will have to decide whether to replace him with Damsgaard as he did on Tuesday or bring in a player with a more defensive profile and, above all, whether to keep Kasper Dolberg at the point of attack, very unfortunate against Tunisia.
