It was not this Saturday (19) that the Brazilian women’s football team broke the writing against France. The canarian team lost by 2-1 to the host team, in the second round of the International Tournament of France, in the city of Caen, in Normandy. The friendly competition is worth preparing for the Copa América, in July, which guarantees places for the World Cup scheduled for next year.

It was Brazil’s second winless match at the International Tournament in Caen. The team debuted with a 1-1 draw with Holland, last Wednesday (16), with a penalty goal from Marta, in the final minutes. And again this Saturday (19), it was the 36-year-old forward – completed today – who shone when she opened the scoring at the Michel D’Ornano stadium, in a penalty kick, 18 minutes into the match. The team barely had time to celebrate: four minutes later came the French equalizer. The play started after a kick from outside the area by Hamraoui, which deflected on Angelina. The ball went high and there was uncertainty between defender Rafaelle and goalkeeper Letícia, and who took advantage of the mistake was French forward Katoto who sent it to the back of the net.
In the second half, the French went to the attack, and after six minutes, the goalkeeper Letícia saved the Brazilian goal by defending a poisonous ball from Toletti, with a header. The pressure continued and at 13, Katoto turned for France, scoring her second of the match.
The women’s team, led by coach Pia Sundhage, ends its participation in the friendly tournament next Tuesday (22), at 14:30 (Brasília time), against Finland.
