The Plenary of the Congress approved by majority the regulatory framework that provides tax benefits for the Private special economic zones (ZEEP).
In this way, it is proposed, among other things, that the operators or users of these spaces will have an income tax rate (IR) of 0% on the net income for a period of five years from the start of their operations. The aforementioned rate will rise from time to time until reaching 15% counting from the twenty -first year since the work began.
According to the president of the Congress Economy Commission, Ilich López, this initiative will increase the country’s productivity and increase investments.
“The ZEEP will make the country before and after in its economic development,” said the parliamentarian who indicated that these spaces will help Peru become a more competitive economy in price, quality and technology.
It is pending
However, through a previous issue it was established that the creation of the ZEEP that are pending, such as Chancay, Huarán, Aucullama, Huacho, Ancón, Callao, Iñapari and Concepción, would not yet be approved.
According to what was raised in Parliament, each of these areas would be voted separately and according to the needs that each space has.
