Frailejón Ernesto Pérez, known for his catchy song, this time brings a new staging with another very important message, the care of water basins on World Water Day.

As you may recall, this little character who became famous on social networks for his invitations to take care of the environment belongs to the series of Magical Tales of Señal Colombia and today, March 22, World Water Day has appeared again, raising awareness.

As Ernesto Pérez points out, in the country «there are four watersheds and six watersheds: the Pacific, the Caribbean, which includes the Magdalena, Cauca, Atrato and Catatumbo basins, mainly; the slope of the Orinoco and the Amazon”.

All water systems of great importance for rivers, lakes, seas and the entire ecosystem.

The political scientist with a master’s degree in Environment and Development from the University of Sussex, in the United Kingdom, Yaddi Miranda Montagut, expressed on Radio Nacional de Colombia that:

“Understanding and recognizing the complexity of a basin is very important to be able to make sustainable use of the resource, and manage the water properly, in such a way that it allows the development of the vital cycles of the ecosystems, while at the same time guarantee water of sufficient quality and quantity for human consumption and for the development of productive activities.

The expert specifies that these basins not only “connect with the territories of the entire country and are interdependent”; but also that everything that happens in the water channel chain affects each section of the basin.

In that order of ideas, Frailejón Ernesto Pérez, in this memorial Today he has had an important task: “Caring for the water in the Colombian moors”, since he is “the first protector of the country’s water resources, which in the lower part end up in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean”.
