Layda Sansores responded with a video in which she herself denounced the alleged links of the crime with García Luna, former Secretary of Public Security.

The former federal police officer Francisco Cañedo Zavaleta said at the García Luna trial that at the time he informed the then deputy Sansores about the alleged meeting between the former official and the criminals.
US prosecutors have accused the former high-ranking Mexican official of allegedly accepting bribes from the Sinaloa Cartel to betray his country.
Genaro García Luna, director of the Federal Investigation Agency from 2001 to 2005 and secretary of Public Security from 2006 to 2012, gave the Sinaloa Cartel information on its rivals and safe-conduct for drug shipments in exchange for tens of millions of dollars, prosecutors have said.
The former official was arrested in 2019 in Texas and pleaded not guilty in 2020 to five charges, including conspiracy to distribute cocaine.
César de Castro, the defendant’s defense attorney, has pointed out that the witnesses are lying to lower their sentences and get revenge on the man responsible for their arrests.
During his time in office, García Luna worked closely with US intelligence and counternarcotics agencies.
