The former governor of Junín, Vladimir Cerrón, was sentenced to four years in effective prison for the Wanka Aerodrome case. However, the Sixth Supraprovincial Unipersonal Criminal Court Specialized in Corruption of Officials of Junín in charge of Judge Guido Ames determined that the sentence becomes effective if the second instance confirms this sentence.

This is one of the most notorious cases in the Junín region in which Cerrón was accused of collusion for ordering the construction of an aerodrome in Orcotuna despite the fact that the Ministry of Transportation had indicated that said project was not viable.

In 2014, Cerrón signed the contract for the assignment of the enabling title with the consortium “Gran Aerodromo Wanka” linked to the businessman Miguel Ángel Quispe Palomino.
