Four white candidates who aspire to the chair of Carlos Moreira

It should be remembered that with the current period it is the fourth time that Moreira is mayor; years: 1995-2000. 2000-2005. 2015-2020; and finally 2020-2025.

In May of next year the election of conventional members will take place, and the following month those conventional members will be the ones who will define the candidates for the Mayor’s Office (speaking exclusively of the departmental).

They are with the intention of governing the department: María de Lima, Napoleón Gardiol, Ricardo Planchón and Guillermo Rodríguez. They all correspond to different nationalist sectors, but it is clear that Moreira’s support is towards Rodríguez, who occupies the general secretary, and at the same time, is his first substitute.

In the past elections, the National Party gave a seat to the Cabildo Abierto, but for the next elections the Cabildo will present its own list, as announced by its leader Guido Manini Ríos.

The 2020 candidates were Carlos Moreira (he achieved 33.72% of the votes), Ricardo Planchón (11.98%) and the lobbyist Eduardo López (0.89%).

Being mayor of Colonia is not negligible, since the monthly salary is around 450 thousand pesos, plus travel expenses.
