Four suspects are arrested for the murder of a Matagalpino merchant

In a house located in the Sabadell neighborhood, in Matagalpa, they found the body of the merchant half-buried, dismembered and in an advanced state of decomposition. Felipe Denis Diaz Martinezwho was reported missing since January 8.

The victim’s body was found early yesterday morning, January 29, in the backyard of his home. “His feet were cut off and they were inside some bags, while the rest of the body was inside a bag and buried in a small pit covered with earth and stones,” a witness explained to local media in the area.

The 61-year-old merchant from Matagalpa used to leave in a truck loaded with products for other municipalities, but mysteriously stopped doing so, which drew the attention of the people who lived around him. January 7th was the last time his neighbors saw him alive.

The relatives of Felipe Díaz had reported his disappearance to the Matagalpa police authorities since January 8, for which reason they began a search from that date without any results, until some neighbors of the merchant noticed a pile of earth on a small grave in the courtyard of the house where he lived.

The Police appeared at the crime scene to carry out their respective investigations. Until now, four of the five suspected of having participated in the murder of Felipe Díaz remain detained at the local police station.

A source linked to the investigations revealed to The Press that the fifth implicated in the crime is Alfredo Guillenbrother-in-law of the victim, who is a fugitive from Nicaraguan justice.

The suspects were identified as Santos Chavarría, Leonardo Salmerón, Bryan Córdoba and a 15-year-old teenager, who remain in police custody.

In addition, everything indicates that the Matagalpino merchant was murdered after he sold his truck with which he worked; the sale was known to his brother-in-law. All of the victim’s money and some of his belongings were stolen.

It is unofficially known that Alfredo Guillén Hernández, who has not yet been captured by the Police, was seen by the residents of Matagalpa selling items belonging to the victim.
