That last Tuesday they enjoyed throwing stones at every bus urban transport passed close to them. They did not care about the passengers, much less the children. The buses were followed by commercial premises and public institutions that also received stones.
That Tuesday, on Avenida de la Cultura, in the heart of the city of Cusco and under the pretext of protest, these vandals imposed terror and panic. Five of them could be identified through the community’s security cameras and later detained by the Police.
But that same panic that they unleashed that morning of January 31, they experienced firsthand when they had to face justice. And it is that, In an exemplary decision, magistrate Yohanna Beny Gallegos Páucar, of the First Vacation Preparatory Investigation Court of Cusco, imposed nine months of preventive detention for four of these subjects, who will be investigated for the crimes of disturbances and hindering the operation of public services.
Richar Camala, David Jivallanca, Ferdinand Huacanqui and Redi Huamán, caught in flagrante delicto, already pay with jail for their acts of vandalism. One of them even cried – like the frightened children inside the buses – in full audience.
PENALTY OF UP TO EIGHT YEARS
According to criminal affairs specialist Andy Carrión, the detainees could receive up to eight years in prison for these crimes. “Flagrance has been established and the images must have established that there was damage to property and danger to people. The sentence could reach eight years taking into account that the judge has ordered pretrial detention,” Carrión explained to Peru21.
During the hearing, the judge pointed out the existence of film records of the vandalism and that the clothes used by these four people on the day of the attacks could be recognized. “Here we are talking about the aggrieved, of children who have been present inside the vehicles terrified by these acts of violence,” Gallegos explained..
CLASHES IN LIMA
