Four police officers arrested for fuel smuggling

The Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) arrested four Trujillo state police officers for their alleged connection to fuel smuggling in that Andean entity, military sources said.

The soldiers were detained at the El Carmen service station, located in the La Alcabala sector, Candelaria municipality (Chejendé), Trujillo. They are: Junior Enrique Quevedo Bolívar, Luis Ángel Luna Villasmil, Juan José Peña Nava and Fabiola Carolina Hernández.

A daughter of the mayor of the Candelaria municipality was also detained, registered as Maríanny Del Carmen Soto Hernández, as well as Francisco Alberto Soto, the manager of the gas station.

Apparently, this group of people monopolized almost all of the fuel assigned to that service station to later sell it in foreign currency, according to an investigation.

They seized five vehicles, thirteen cell phones, two Bio-payment, a DVR equipment and a power plant, among others.
