Four officers of the Chilean Air Force (FACh) will be formalized by the Magallanes Prosecutor’s Office for the tragedy of the Hercules C-130 in 2019.
They are Julio Ojeda, Marcelo Mella, Allan Asenjo and Eduardo Mosquera, whose hearing was set for February 21, 2023.
According to radio bio biothe 4 will be charged with a quasi-crime of homicide with multiple results.
The accident occurred in 2019, when the aircraft disappeared in the waters of the Drake Sea, the section that separates the waters of South America with those of Antarctica. Inside were 38 people —21 passengers and 17 crew members— who died as a result of the accident.
In 2021, and despite the fact that the FACh carried out an investigation, it was determined that it was not possible to establish the cause of the accident due to “the small number of elements rescued from the sea and that were part of the aircraft.”
