With 692,946 visitors in the first seven months of the year And a 12.49% contribution to the total number of visitors to archaeological zones nationwide, Tulum is placed as the most visited archaeological zone of Quintana Roo and the third nationwide, behind Chichen Itzá and Teotihuacán.
In seventh place at the national level, Chacchoben appears with 152,143 visitors, who represent 2.74% compared to the national total; Cobá contributes another 2.19% with 121,593 visitors and is located in ninth place; while San Gervasio is located at site 11 with 91,545 tourist and 1.65% of the national total.
These same four areas are also part of which recently received investment of 1,000 million pesos in remodeling by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) through the Archaeological Zone Improvement Program (Promise).
Throughout the state, there are 13 areas of vestiges administered by INAH that in total have caught a total of 1.2 million visitors between January and July of this year, which represents 21.8% of cultural tourism that goes to the archaeological vestiges throughout the country.
Among these already is Ichkabal, the most recent archaeological zone open to the public in southern Quintana Roo, which reports the collection of 26,817 visitors in its first seven months of life as a more tourist attraction.
As for composition, 61.15% of visitors to these spaces are foreign visitors, that is, a total of 750,568; The remaining 478,806 correspond to National Tourism, that is 38.85%.
At the national level, that composition is very different, since according to INAH, 89 percent of visitors were national and 11 percent foreigners, during the reference period.
According to that report: Chichén Itzá is the most visited archaeological zonewith 1.3 million visitors, Teotihuacán with its site museum, records 994,788 visitors and tulum another 692,646.
